Feeding support
Breastfeeding assessment (positioning, attachment, milk supply), bottle and combination feeding guidance, and gentle help through fussy feeding.

Family-centred infant care
Neurodevelopmental care for babies and the parents who love them — in clinic at Young Street Medical, via telehealth, and at your pace.
Opening Monday 11 January 2027. Bookings available from December 2026.
Our approach
Every baby arrives with their own temperament, their own rhythm and their own developing nervous system. Rather than applying a schedule, we begin by understanding yours — how your baby feeds, how they signal, how they settle, and how the days and nights are really going for you.
From there we build a plan that is evidence-based, unhurried and genuinely achievable at home. No pressure, no cry-it-out, no judgement.
Every family is welcome here. This is an LGBTQI+ inclusive practice. Two-mum and two-dad families, trans and non-binary parents, single parents by choice, foster, adoptive and surrogacy families, and parents feeding at the breast, chest, bottle, tube or any combination — all are supported. Tell us your pronouns and the words you use for your body, your feeding and your family, and those are the words we will use too.
What we offer
Breastfeeding assessment (positioning, attachment, milk supply), bottle and combination feeding guidance, and gentle help through fussy feeding.
Responsive settling and routine support for newborns and infants, grounded in Neuroprotective Developmental Care rather than rigid schedules.
Weight and growth monitoring across the first year, tracked in your NSW Personal Health Record (Blue Book), with GP liaison at Young Street Medical or your preferred GP where extra input is needed.
A warm, judgement-free space for new and existing parents — because settled babies begin with supported, confident parents.

Meet Brita
I'm Brita Golsby-Smith, a registered nurse with a NICU background, currently a practice nurse at Young Street Medical and training toward IBCLC certification. I've sat with a lot of tired, worried parents — and I know how much difference the right support at the right moment makes.
I'm also training with the Possums NDC Institute in Neuroprotective Developmental Care, an evidence-based framework for breastfeeding, infant sleep and cry-fuss support. My practice is warm, unhurried and family-centred.
A typical visit
A calm, unhurried appointment designed around your baby's pace and your questions.
You will receive a brief intake form so we can make the most of our time together. Bring your baby, any feeding gear you use, your NSW Personal Health Record (Blue Book) or recent weights, and a list of questions — partners and support people are welcome.
Young Street Medical is set up as a quiet, comfortable space with no clock-watching. There is time to feed, change, settle, or simply sit while we talk through what is happening for you.
We will look at feeding (breast, bottle, or both), your baby's cues, settling and sleep, and any growth concerns. We talk through what you are already noticing about your baby, I listen carefully to what matters most to you, and every decision is made together.
You leave with a clear, practical, written plan that fits your family — not a generic routine. Follow-up support is available in clinic or via telehealth as your baby grows and things change.
Questions
The initial consultation runs for 90 minutes in clinic. I take a full history, observe a feed if possible, assess settling and sleep, and we build a practical, written plan you can take home.
The Support Package includes one face-to-face Initial Consultation plus two follow-up sessions, in clinic or via telehealth. Most families use the first follow-up within a week or two to fine-tune the plan, and the second a little later as routines shift. Follow-ups are shorter and focused on progress.
Yes. Follow-up consultations can be held by phone or video call, which is especially helpful when you're settling back into rhythm at home and just need a quick check-in. We'll arrange a time that suits your baby's day.
No referral is needed to book a feeding and settling consultation. If I notice anything that needs medical review, I can liaise with your GP at Young Street Medical or your chosen doctor with your permission.
Bring your baby, any feeding equipment you use (bottles, formula, breast pump, nipple shields, cloths), your NSW Personal Health Record (Blue Book) or recent weight measurements if you have them, and a list of questions. Partners and support people are welcome.
